OVERVIEW
MOONS (3)
Vesk-5.1
A frozen moon with vast subsurface oceans locked beneath kilometers of ice. Vesk-5.1 hosts Spaceport 5.1, the primary civilian gateway to the Vesk-5 system with a population of 1.58 million. Geothermal vents beneath the ice sustain extremophile ecosystems that Veskarium scientists study for biotech applications.
Vesk-5.2
A rocky moon with a distinctive gold-tinted crust rich in heavy metals. Its thin but breathable atmosphere supports two notable settlements: the Gathering, a sanctuary and proving ground for stormrunner pilots, and Mythnox, a mystic city built around an ancient temple dedicated to Ibra, god of exploration and discovery. Vesk-5.2 is considered semi-autonomous, its remoteness granting its inhabitants unusual freedom from Veskarium oversight.
Vesk-5.3
An ocean moon covered almost entirely by a liquid water sea, warmed by intense tidal forces from Vesk-5. Beneath the waves lie mysterious ruins strikingly similar to ancient structures found on Vesk-2, suggesting that an advanced precursor civilization once spanned multiple worlds before suffering a cataclysmic extinction. Veskarium archaeologists and independent treasure hunters alike brave the deep to explore these submerged sites.
MAJOR SETTLEMENTS (6)
Command 5
The Veskarium's administrative and military command station for the Vesk-5 system. Command 5 is a massive diamond-hulled platform that floats in Vesk-5's upper atmosphere, held aloft by enormous repulsor arrays. It serves as the seat of High Despot Kesharkan, known as the Typhoon Tyrant, and houses the garrison, shipyards, and bureaucratic apparatus that governs the planet and its moons.
Spaceport 5.1
The primary civilian hub of the Vesk-5 system, located on the frozen moon Vesk-5.1. A sprawling enclosed city built over geothermal vents, Spaceport 5.1 is a melting pot of vesk soldiers, formian traders, kasatha wanderers, and shirren pilgrims. It handles most commercial traffic and serves as the main point of entry for visitors to the Vesk-5 subsystem.
Quariskt
A formian colony built into the largest fragment of Vesk-5's ring system. Quariskt is a honeycomb of tunnels and chambers carved from ring ice and rock, home to thousands of formians who mine rare minerals from the rings. The colony operates with a degree of independence unusual in the Veskarium, as the formians' hive-mind organization makes them efficient and largely self-governing.
The Gathering
A legendary settlement on Vesk-5.2 that serves as the sanctuary and proving ground for stormrunners — the daredevil pilots who race through Vesk-5's deadly storm bands. Part outlaw haven, part competitor's lodge, the Gathering is where pilots repair their ships, trade salvage, share intelligence on storm patterns, and challenge each other to ever more dangerous runs into the gas giant's atmosphere.
Mythnox
A mystic city on Vesk-5.2 built around an ancient temple complex dedicated to Ibra, the god of exploration and discovery. Mythnox draws pilgrims, scholars, and mystics from across the Veskarium and beyond. The temple's inner sanctum is said to glow with the same ethereal light as Ibra's Auroras, the polar lights of Vesk-5, and some believe it holds a direct connection to the divine.
Dekka Research Outpost
A deep-atmosphere research station suspended in Vesk-5's cloud layers, far below Command 5. Dekka studies the gas giant's exotic chemistry, extreme-pressure physics, and the organisms that may dwell in the deep atmosphere. It is considered one of the most dangerous postings in the Veskarium, and its small crew rotates frequently.
