OVERVIEW

Tabrid Minor is heavily industrialized with settlements blanketing its four large landmasses. When Pact Worlds explorers first encountered the developed planet, their readings indicated nearly depleted resources, sharply declining biodiversity, erratic weather systems, and inexplicably floating citadels. The coral-like copi are central to both Tabrid Minor's success and troubles. Copi once covered much of the planet's surface, drawing energy from the nearby orange star while attuning to gravitational forces. From these evolved the intelligent copaxis—humanoid colonies of specialized polyps comprising every feature of their bodies. This specialization translates to copaxi society, with wealth concentrated in few individuals who control regional governments, closely regulate technological developments, and maintain strict control of culture and history. Few know that copaxis once enjoyed lavish, peaceful lives in magically buoyant cities. Their magic stemmed from mystical bonds with copi and its supernatural gravitational affinities, which they cultivated to keep citadels aloft, power homes, and feed people. Their civilization prospered for centuries, seemingly even during the Gap. However, the Signal changed copaxi society forever in 3 AG. Inspired by Triune-granted technology, copaxi innovators discovered how to refine copi into semi-organic alloy suitable for building Drift engines, starship hulls, and machines. Technological innovators increasingly pushed back against magical traditionalists, who attempted to quash these threats to the status quo. At last, conflict exploded into armed warfare that shattered the aristocracy and copaxis' reliance on magic. The new government harvested dense copi that powered flying cities and abandoned the slowly sinking wonders. Copaxis settled Tabrid Minor's fertile surface and, rather than using the Signal to take to the stars, used newfound knowledge to industrialize. For three centuries they harvested and refined copi, devastating the keystone species and diminishing their own mystical connection to the planet. Undeterred, they turned to robots to expedite mining and construction, only to eradicate most robots when machines began developing sentience. Copaxis are slowly realizing their rapid industrialization inflicted catastrophic and possibly irreversible damage to ecosystems and weather patterns, and tensions between common people and wealthy elites rise yearly. In recent decades, using capital and resources from an anonymous corporate sponsor, a coalition of regional governments began pursuing space travel, hoping to save their people by identifying new resources or worlds to colonize. However, exploration only increased Tabrid Minor's vulnerability to threats like the Veskarium and the Swarm. The planetary government has applied for Pact Worlds protectorate status, though the petition remains pending.

MOONS (1)

Sabraxid

Tabrid Minor's single small moon, devoid of natural copi and thus free of the planet's gravitational anomalies. Serves as the planet's largest space port.

MAJOR SETTLEMENTS (6)

Gadrathar Fortress

This long-abandoned, shattered citadel floats several miles above the planet's southern pole, slowly rotating on all axes. The ruins once housed copaxis' most powerful order of mystics and solarians, the Gadrath, who roamed the planet and preserved its magical lore. Regional governments officially prohibit exploration of the fortress—and most copaxis consider the place taboo—but daring scavengers occasionally raid Gadrathar's precarious halls. A reclusive group of sapient, magically adept robots protects the fortress; these former slaves refer to themselves as the Gadrath and regard copaxis as unworthy of their own ancient arts.

Sabraxid Space Port

Located on Tabrid Minor's small moon Sabraxid, which is devoid of natural copi and free of the planet's gravitational anomalies, this facility serves as the planet's largest space port. The port sprang up shortly after copaxis first made contact with spacefaring aliens and is as much the product of outsiders' efforts as copaxis'. Cultural trends change more rapidly on Sabraxid than on Tabrid Minor. The moon has become a haven for copaxis escaping their rigid, stratified society, but it's not safe—bands of mindless undead copaxis roam the surface, former soldiers who were casualties of ancient solarians' gravity manipulation, hurled into space by the planet's revolution and swept up by the moon's gravity. They pose an ongoing threat to port activities, though some see the undead as a priceless window into Tabrid Minor's scoured past.

Tabantria

As one of the most intact and upright of Tabrid Minor's floating cities, Tabantria is subject to ongoing archaeological research by a joint team of copaxis and Starfinder Society agents. The once-prestigious metropolis boasted a magic academy, bustling transport hub, beautiful gardens, thriving market, and extravagant residences, though little survives beyond war-scarred, dilapidated stone buildings. The Yihil regional government restricts investigation to approved research teams, though this doesn't stop thrill-seekers and treasure-hunters from sneaking in. Explorers compete with looters, undead soldiers from the revolution, gravitational anomalies from the copi-depleted city, and destabilized rituals. Crisscrossing tunnels once supported thriving copi colonies but now house dangerous beasts like avian tcheltolis whose reflective feathers blind predators, heavily armored corchaazes whose distant copi ancestry enables them to capture prey with supernatural gravity bursts, and long-abandoned robotic servitors. Among the most exciting discoveries is the arena built for an ancient game called parabolas, played with spheres of graviton-attuned copi, heavy metal cubes, and magical rods that became immovable anchors in space, challenging magically adept copaxis to touch spheres to cubes in the fast-moving, chaotic playing field.

Volnti

Located in the sparsely populated town of Volnti along the subarctic Inthir Peninsula, a vesk embassy has nearly doubled the municipality's population over the past three years thanks to the Veskarium's ongoing shipments of food, construction materials, and contractors. Even as Tabrid Minor's government woos the Pact Worlds, vesk emissaries exert ongoing diplomatic pressure to persuade copaxis to accept the Veskarium's protection. Increasingly, Volnti's officials push for Tabrid Minor to abandon the Pact Worlds' onerous application process and accept the Veskarium's freely offered assistance. However, Pact Worlds agents have identified new military installations appearing near Volnti, as though the Veskarium intends to use the planet as a jumping-off point for future conquests.

Yihil

Tabrid Minor's planetary government cedes considerable autonomy to regional administrations. Yihil is far from the largest or most powerful, but thanks to Tabantria's presence, it has attained considerable prestige and influence. The region is a massive network of industrialized urban centers connected by sprawling slums, and growing economic and ecological instability contributes to rising unease and resentment among inhabitants. The government has imposed quarantines, curfews, media restrictions, and other crude measures to keep the populace under control, fearful that serious unrest could threaten the planet's bid for protectorate status. Furious at the planetary government's desire to build figurative life boats rather than fix the dying planet, a group called the Fallen Hand preaches that copaxis should destroy their starships and cut themselves off from the galaxy, forcing them to repair their ecosystem and rebuild ancestral magic. However, they have few converts—for centuries, the government has manipulated historical records, convincing most citizens that old sky cities' residents were punished by divine intervention for over-reliance on magic, necessitating their safer technological existence. Even so, the Fallen Hand is slowly gaining support as the populace grows embittered.

Zone 78

Officially, this oceanic expanse several miles off the coast of Yihil is unremarkable. But a secretive military science program has studied this area and steered traffic away for decades, investigating the severe weather events, gravitational anomalies, and other perils that are common there. Centered on a sizable landmass scientists believe may be a fallen sky city, the area's supernatural influence is growing slowly, reestablishing destroyed copi colonies and mutating familiar life-forms into dangerously unpredictable beasts. Expeditions deep into Zone 78 have disappeared in chaotic hurricanes and gravity swells, which can hurl boulders and starships with equal ease. Researchers are increasingly nervous that Zone 78 represents the planet reclaiming what copaxis have usurped, potentially signaling the end of copaxi life on Tabrid Minor.
